Privacy Policy
Bee My Story makes personalized picture books. To make a book about your child, we need a few details from you. This page explains, in plain English, what we collect, why, who helps us, and the choices you have. We keep it simple: we only use your information to make and deliver your book, and we never sell it.
1. What we collect
- Your details: your name, email address and, for printed books, your shipping address (and a gift recipient's name and address if you ship to someone else).
- Your child's details: first name, age, and the appearance details you choose (for example hair, skin tone, eye color, glasses), plus any story choices, dedication or gift message.
- Optional photos: photos of your pet, and photos of other characters who are 13 or older (for example a parent or grandparent), only if you choose to upload them.
- Messages: what you send us through the contact form (name, email, optional order number and your message).
- Payment: payments are handled by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and limited details (such as the last four digits of a card), but we never see or store your full card number.
2. Why we collect it
Only to make and deliver your book: to write and illustrate the story, check it, print and ship it (or email the PDF), reply to your questions, and handle any fix or reprint under our Happiness guarantee. We don't use your child's details or photos for advertising, and we don't use them to train AI models or for any purpose other than your order.
3. Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers we need to run the shop, and only what each one needs:
- FormSubmit delivers order and contact form submissions (including any photos you upload) to our email inbox.
- Stripe processes payments. Your card details go directly to Stripe; we never see full card numbers.
- Lulu prints and ships hardcover books, so it receives the book file and your shipping name and address.
- Our hosting provider serves this website and may keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses and pages requested) to keep the site running and secure.
- Google Fonts: the site loads its fonts from Google, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with Google when a page loads.
We may also share information if the law requires it. We never sell or rent your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.
4. Children's privacy
This website is for parents, guardians and other adults. It is not meant for children to use, and we don't knowingly collect information directly from children. A parent or guardian provides their child's details for the sole purpose of making the book. You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete your child's information, and we'll do it. If you believe a child has sent us information directly, please contact us and we'll delete it.
5. How long we keep it
- Uploaded photos are deleted after your book has been delivered.
- Order records (such as what you ordered, the amount paid and where it shipped) are kept as long as we need them for taxes, accounting and our legal obligations.
- Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to help you.
6. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access the information we hold about you or your child, correct it, or delete it. Just email us using the address in the Contact section below. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we may keep order records we're required to keep by law.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or analytics tools. The site itself does not set cookies. While you fill in the order form, your browser temporarily remembers your answers in its own session storage so they aren't lost if you reload the page; this stays on your device and is cleared when you finish your order or close the tab. The services listed above (such as Google Fonts and our hosting provider) may receive basic technical information like your IP address when pages load, and our payment provider, Stripe, may use its own cookies on its checkout page for security and fraud prevention.
8. Keeping it safe
We use reputable providers, send data over secure (HTTPS) connections and limit access to the people who make your book. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care to protect your information.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the effective date above. If a change is significant, we'll make it clear on the site or let customers know by email.
